Mark The berries are not edible. I noticed an abundance of this in my garden beds this year - must have had seeds in some of the peat or dirt I bought. It is stubborn and a vigorous grower.
Thanks for the posts. It is indeed pokeweed. The net is great once you know a name to lookup, you can always find pictures to identify plants and trees.
